Lake Accotink Dredging Assessment
Lake Accotink Dredging Assessment
The Lake Accotink dredging project will remove an estimated 500,000 cubic yards of sediment to reestablish lake depth and put in place a maintenance dredging program to sustain water quality in Accotink Creek and aesthetic and recreational benefits for county residents. A review of the field conditions of the lake and watershed data is underway. The input received from this survey will help inform the dredging project alternatives analysis. The project alternatives analysis will be developed by summer 2021 to inform stakeholders, elected officials and staff about options available for the location of dredge staging, temporary pipelines and dredge sediment processing.
Lake Accotink Dredging Assessment Virtual Public Meeting
The county’s consultant, Arcadis, has submitted the alternative analysis report to inform stakeholders, elected officials and staff about options available for the location of dredge staging, temporary pipelines, and dredge sediment processing. County staff will seek input from community members to help in review of the alternative analysis and selection of options for the dredging operation.
Two public meetings will be held to present the information contained in the alternatives analysis.
- The first public meeting will be in person and held on Thursday, July 29th, 2021 from 7 to 8:30pm at the Annandale High School Auditorium, 4700 Medford Drive, Annandale, VA.
- The second public meeting will be virtual and held on Thursday, August 5th, 2021 from 7 to 8:30pm and can be accessed via this webpage. Registration for the virtual meeting is optional and is not required to participate in the meeting.
