Pothole Patrol
Pothole Patrol
2026 marks the 10th Annual Pothole Patrol Blitz campaign!
We are challenging residents to help us reach our goal of locating and fixing 10,000 potholes in the month of April by calling 3-1-1 or by reporting potholes through the updated 311sa app. Exclusive Pothole Patrol Fiesta Medals will be distributed at various pop-events throughout the month.
- In 2025, our hard-working Public Works field staff ultimately filled just under 12,000 total potholes during the April Blitz!
- 311 has a guarantee to complete repairs within two working days.
Pothole Patrol Program
The San Antonio Pothole Patrol is a year-round initiative managed by the Public Works Streets Division.
San Antonio’s extremely hot weather, followed by bouts of rain, causes the expansion and contraction of asphalt. This process creates the perfect conditions for water to seep into the asphalt and create potholes.
Eleven Pothole Patrol crews cover the City and each pothole takes roughly 20 minutes to repair.
- In 2025, residents made about 7,000 calls to the City’s 311 hotline to report potholes. That's approximately 10% of the total potholes Public Works repaired throughout all last year.
- In addition to reports from the community, PWD has a proactive investigative team searching for potholes in each district all year round. They create a list, which is then distributed to the patch trucks for repair.
- Summer is a better time of the year to fix potholes, however, we do fix potholes all year round. The worst time is during extreme inclement weather.
- 311 receives about 500 pothole calls each month and has a guarantee to complete repairs within two working days.
- Over 70,000 potholes are repaired annually.
