The City of San Antonio will conduct a public hearing to name Pavilion 2 at Rosedale Park Mass Facility on June 3, 2024, as required by Article XVI of Chapter 6 of the City Code. Comments, oral or written, concerning the naming of Pavilion 2 from all interested citizens will be considered.

Written comments (up to 300 words maximum) may be submitted via email by Sunday at 4:00 PM on June 2, 2024, to the Committee liaison: reena.gonzalez@sanantonio.gov. These comments will be given to the committee. Please include your full name and home or work address.

Councilwoman Teri Castillo has submitted a recommendation that Pavilion 2 at Rosedale Park Mass Facility located at 303 Dartmouth be named the Robert Quiroga Pavilion.

The naming of the pavilion is to honor the legacy of Robert Quiroga, a beloved figure in District 5. Robert "Pikin" Quiroga holds a significant place in the history of San Antonio as the first World Super Flyweight Champion from our city. From 1990 to 1993, he was IBF Jr Bantamweight Champion of the world, defending it successfully five times before retiring in 1995 with a record of 20-2, including 11 knockouts. A graduate of Memorial High School in 1997, Robert's boxing career was distinguished by several notable achievements. Recognized for his contributions, Quiroga was inducted into various sports halls of fame, including the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Robert Quiroga remains a cherished icon in District 5, and his impact on our community is undeniable.

Naming Pavilion 2 at Rosedale Park Mass Facility after Robert Quiroga will stand as a timeless tribute to his advocacy for the city and his unwavering commitment to improving our community.

The hearing will be held on Monday June 3, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Westside Family YMCA, 2900 Ruiz St. San Antonio, Texas 78228.

La Ciudad de San Antonio llevará a cabo una audiencia pública para nombrar el Pabellón 2 en las instalaciones masivas de Rosedale Park el 3 de junio de 2024, como lo exige el Artículo XVI del Capítulo 6 del Código de la Ciudad.
