The City of Asheville’s Board of Adjustment has jurisdiction to hear cases regarding variance requests from the provisions of the Unified Development Ordinance. Additionally, the Board of Adjustment has jurisdiction to hear appeals regarding interpretations of the Unified Development Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance, Housing Code Ordinance, and Historic District Guidelines.
REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE
The Board of Adjustment meets once a month on the fourth Monday of the month in the 1st Floor North Conference Room of City Hall (70 Court Plaza).

VARIANCES
The petitioner, Brent Campbell Architecture, on behalf of the owners Steven & Kimberly Rosas, are requesting a variance to the front setback development standard found in Section 7-12-4(h) Steep Slope and Ridge Top Development of the Unified Development Ordinance (“UDO”). The petitioner is seeking a reduction from the 20 foot front setback standard to zero (0’) feet to construct a new single family house at property located at 124 McCauley Drive and identified in the Buncombe County tax record as PIN 9648-55-2974. The petitioner, Marni Graves, on behalf of the owners Scott & Allison Blake, are requesting a variance to the maximum grading allowance development standard found in Section 7-12-4(f) Steep Slope and Ridge Top Development-Grading of the Unified Development Ordinance (“UDO”). The petitioner is seeking an additional 15% grading allowance due to prior improvements consuming the initial allowance preventing construction of a single family house at property located at 358 Vance Gap Road and identified in the Buncombe County tax record as PIN 9649-93-0401. VARIANCES
The petitioner, Andrew Weaver, is requesting variances to the setbacks standards in Section 7-8-6(f)(5) RM-8 Residential MultiFamily Medium Density District Setbacks as well as Aquatic Buffer standards 7-12-2(e)(2)a1 and 7-12-2(f)(3)a. The applicant is seeking relief from the required front setback from 15’ to 10’. And relief from the 30’ aquatic buffer standards for temporary and permanent impacts to the aquatic buffer to construct a single family home and required site improvements.
