In October 2021, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners adopted the Wimauma Community Plan, along with land development regulations. These addressed development outside of the downtown core. Now, the County has moved to the next phase of implementation, revitalizing Wimauma’s downtown core. A lively, connected downtown is the heart of the Wimauma Community Plan. To that end, Hillsborough County has contracted Urban 3 and the University of South Florida to conduct an in-depth analysis of Wimauma and assist in the creation of an implementation strategy for a downtown core.

Urban 3 will create a comprehensive, data-driven, multi scenario report outlining how the community plan can effectively be implemented. This will be done over multiple months in four phases.

Currently, the team is in Phase 2 – Analysis and Feedback. Findings will be presented to the Wimauma community in early fall with the final presentation expected in late fall or early winter. The County wants your feedback on the project.
