Full Network Proposals
View and provide input about the overall county-wide network scenarios for The Bus.
The maps below show the two overall route network alternatives we are proposing:
Scenario 1: Assumes that The Bus and UC Merced’s Cat Tracks systems operate separately, as they do today.
Scenario 2: Integrates The Bus and Cat Tracks into one system that serves both the UC Merced and Merced County communities.
Key features of the route network proposals include:
- Streamlined, bidirectional service on major corridors
- Faster, more frequent, and more reliable connections to services and major destinations
- Improved interconnectivity to enhance seamless travel countywide

This route network alternative optimizes The Bus’s network and does not consider any changes to UC Merced’s Cat Tracks system. In this scenario, both systems would continue operating separately.
This route network alternative integrates The Bus’s and UC Merced’s Cat Tracks networks into one unified system. Specifically, this proposal seeks to make transit more efficient and effective for all Merced County communities, eliminating the route duplication issues and access barriers that currently exist with the presence of two separate networks. This proposed network maintains, with improved frequencies, all of the direct connections that currently exist between UC Merced and destinations around Merced.
