Recording of Second Virtual Public Meeting Now Available
A second virtual public meeting was held on November 9, 2021. The meeting discussed the selected preferred alternative (Alternative #2), other project updates, and next steps. You can view a recording of the meeting below in the Project Overview tab. The first virtual public meeting is also available to view below. Simply scroll down and hit "play"!
Public Involvement Background
The first public meeting was held on August 13, 2020 and discussed two alternatives to improve Cassady Avenue. A video of the meeting can be accessed below (on the right in the sidebar if on a computer and at the bottom of this page if on a mobile device). After the public meeting, a comment period was open for the public to submit questions, concerns, or comments until September 28. After considering the project stakeholder’s and public’s feedback and the comparison of alternatives, the City then selected Alternative 2 as its preferred alternative. A comment response letter was sent to the mailing area in March of 2021 and is available to view and download under the "Documents" section located in the sidebar of this project webpage.
Alternative 2 will be an effective measure to improve mobility, reduce congestion, and limit impacts to the community. This means that the widening of Cassady avenue will occur more to the east of the roadway than what was proposed in Alternative 1, which widened Cassady Avenue on both sides of the roadway.
Please see below for more details and information about the project.
If you have questions or wish to obtain additional information about the project please contact Kevin Thomas, Project Manager, City of Columbus Dept. of Public Service at kdthomas@columbus.gov or 614-645-6470.
What is the Project?
The project will reconstruct Cassady Avenue from just south of Delmar Drive north to E. 7th Ave. Proposed enhancements include the addition of turn lanes on Cassady Avenue, sidewalks, a shared-use path, and drainage improvements.
Why is the Project Needed?
The project is intended to improve mobility and reduce congestion. See next tab for more specific project goals.
