Mount Vernon Woods Park Development
Mount Vernon Woods Park Development
In 2015, after an in-depth planning and public engagement process, the Fairfax County Park Authority Board approved a revision to the Mount Vernon Woods Park Master Plan. Park Master Plans are long-range documents that provide a conceptual vision for a park and how it serves the community. Now that funding is available, the Park Authority plans to develop new facilities at the park in conformance with the 2015 Master Plan Revision.
Mount Vernon Woods Park, located at 4014 Fielding Street, Alexandria, is a 7-acre public park adjacent to the elementary school. Half of the park is wooded and the remaining portion consists of an open, grassy area. Built facilities in the park include a picnic pavilion, children's play area, trails, and benches.
The public is invited to attend a public information meeting about the Mount Vernon Woods Park Redevelopment Project on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 6 p.m at the Mount Vernon Elementary School cafeteria (4015 Fielding Street, Alexandria, VA). A park redevelopment concept will be presented during the meeting and will be followed by a Q&A session. The proposed facilities and improvements in the redevelopment concept plan are responsive to the feedback received from stakeholder groups to date. In addition to providing comments during the meeting, comments will be accepted until October 10, 2022 and can be sent to 71518@publicinput.com
A breif survey is also provided below to help FCPA gain additional feedback about the proposed park design and anticipated facilities.
