City Tree Manual (TC-5-21)
City Tree Manual (TC-5-21)
This text change proposes updating the City Tree Manual to correct typos and provide clarification on existing regulations. Read the full ordinance (PDF).
Background Information:
The City Tree Manual contains specific regulatory provisions pursuant to the City of Raleigh Municipal Code: Trees and Vegetation, Part 9 Chapter 8. The intent of the manual is to implement best practices as reflected in the professional tree care and landscape industry for the planting, maintenance, removal protection, pruning and preservation of public trees, as well as to enforce provisions of City code. Public trees are those that originate on City-owned or controlled property. This includes street trees, trees located on City of Raleigh properties including parks and other municipal facilities.
Proposed Text Change:
The goal of the manual update is to replace outdated information, make the manual more user friendly, correct existing errors and improve clarity. This update is a minor revision and there are no significant policy or regulation changes as part of this update.
Public Meeting Schedule:
This text change is scheduled for a Planning Commission meeting in August. The Commission may act on that date or refer to their Text Change Committee for further discussion. We will be collecting comments here through June 28. Comments after this date should be submitted directly to Keegan McDonald via email.
