The Town of Chapel Hill Landscape Standards - DRAFT Update
The purpose of this review is to update a DRAFT for the landscape standards that fit within the Town’s Design and Engineering Manual. The updates to the document are wide ranging, but the effort did concentrate on two sections.
- The first section is related to Amended Soil Volume Requirements (Section 2B, Table 2). Currently the town only requires a minimum soil square footage requirement. This update provides specifications on amended soil volume requirements. Enhancing not only the soil typology, but also the volume required for each tree type. This update will allow for additional growing space and result in healthier plant material that establishes quicker.
- The second section is the Landscape Installation and Maintenance Specifications (Section 6, Table 5). These updates are focused on requiring additional specifications measures for material installation. Including new minimal measurements for caliper, height and spread. Each of the required specifications will need to be met for material to qualify for an approved inspection.
