LYNX Silver Line Station Area Planning
LYNX Silver Line Station Area Planning
LYNX Silver Line
The LYNX Silver Line is a proposed 29-mile, 29 station light rail project from the City of Belmont in Gaston County, through Center City Charlotte and the Town of Matthews, into Union County. The character, urban context, land use, and transit-oriented development (TOD) potential along the corridor changes significantly depending on the varying adjacent neighborhood and corridor contexts. The cities and towns along the corridor have been working with regional and local partners towards a multimodal, equitable, and economically resilient Silver Line corridor. Many of these planning efforts align with encouraging TOD and spurring equitable economic development along the corridor. To prepare for the implementation of the LYNX Silver Line project, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is partnering with the city and town planning staff along the corridor to truly integrate land use and development visions for each of the communities into the transit planning process. CATS and the City of Charlotte’s Planning, Design, & Development Department are co-leading the station area planning efforts in parallel to the design and engineering work of the project, this survey is the first opportunity to provide input on this effort.
