Stewart Creek Greenway
Stewart Creek Greenway
Construction began January 2022. The Stewart Creek Tributary project through the Lakewood community is open! The section of Stewart Creek Greenway through Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is still under construction. We anticipate this section to be complete in 2024.
Mecklenburg County is beginning construction on a new section of Stewart Creek Greenway. The Stewart Creek greenway trail, stream enhancement project, and water quality enhancement project is a partnership between Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. The project will include a 0.5 mile greenway trail along Stewart Creek, a 1 mile greenway trail along Stewart Creek Tributary, 0.5 mile of stream enhancements to reduce erosion and sediment, and the construction of a new stormwater control measure near the Duke Energy substation.Mecklenburg County is beginning construction on a new section of Stewart Creek Greenway. We have successfully placed the largest bridge (181 feet) in our greenway system (watch the video below)! The bridge is located near State Street. The boardwalk will begin construction with paving soon to follow. We are still on schedule to complete this section of trail before the end of the calendar year.
