This phase will establish an understanding of the existing and planned conditions of the County's parks and recreation system by reviewing relevant plans and studies, conducting site visits, and developing an inventory baseline of the County's parks, recreation, cultural, and natural resources and programmatic offerings.

Phase 2 - Needs + Priorities Assessment

Winter 2019/2020

This phase will include a comprehensive, community participation-driven needs assessment process that employs proven qualitative, quantitative, and anecdotal analysis techniques to identify resident parks, recreation, cultural, and natural resources needs and priorities.

Phase 3 - Long-Range Vision

Spring/Summer 2020

Based on the findings from the Existing Conditions Analysis and Needs + Priorities Assessment phases, this community participation-based phase will establish a long-range vision grounded in industry best practices and community input for the County's Parks and Recreation System which will guide decision making and help realize the utmost potential in managing resources and serving County residents.

Phase 4 - Implementation Strategy

Summer/Fall 2020

Based on the newly established long-range vision, the implementation strategy will articulate a phased, ten (10) year plan for the realization of the new, robust parks and recreation system. This plan will inform future decisions made concerning County parks, recreation, cultural, and natural resources and programmatic offerings and outline a blueprint for investment.

Phase 5 - Final Report + Approval

Fall 2020

This phase will focus on compiling all the information completed during the twelve (12) month planning process into a final report. Final approval of the 2020 Gwinnett County Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan is anticipated to occur during the Winder of 2020
