Helene Economy Recovery Board
The Economy Recovery Board will serve these functions:
- Provides input to City Council on policy recommendations that promote post-disaster economic recovery such as rebuilding and revitalizing the local economy.
- Provides input to City Council on policy recommendations that expand local economic resilience and diversification.
- Provides input to City Council on policy recommendations that emphasize land management best practices and the strategic use of both city-owned and newly acquired land to promote placemaking, community vitality, and sustainable long-term growth.
- Provides input to City Council on policy recommendations that support workforce development programs that build workforce capacity and enhance the local economy by creating a sustainable economic base.
- Supports City Council by providing input on ways to expand the city’s contractor pool to improve capacity for recovery and future resilience projects.
- Supports City Council by providing input on ways to strengthen outreach to businesses and support for small and underrepresented businesses.
- Supports City Council by helping businesses navigate post-disaster recovery challenges, communicating needed resources and funding opportunities for rebuilding through each member’s respective networks.

Special Meeting: Economy Recovery Board Orientation
The Economy Recovery Board will be holding a special meeting from 9:00 a.m. - Noon on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in the Banquet Hall at Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville, located at 87 Haywood Street, Asheville, N.C. The purpose of the meeting will be to (1) hold a joint orientation for all 4 Helene Recovery Boards; and (2) go into 4 breakout sessions to go over each board's scope; their initial agenda items; and determine a regular meeting schedule.

Economy Recovery Board Meeting 11/20/2025
The Economic Recovery Board will hold a regular meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in the Asheville City Hall First Floor Conference Room, located at 70 Court Plaza, Asheville, NC. The purpose of this meeting includes (1) board officer elections, (2) adopting the Rules of Procedure, (3) an overview of CDBG-DR grant funding, and (4) an update on CDBG-DR Small Business Grants.
