High School Participation in Teen Bystandership Curriculum

High schools in Collin, Dallas, Johnson, and Tarrant counties are eligible to participate in a pilot program focused on teen bystandership. The program is designed for students currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in driver’s education courses.

Curriculum Details

The curriculum is developed to encourage bystandership in teen driving situations and includes two (2) hours of instruction, adapted to the interests and needs of young drivers.

Participation Goals

The goal is to reach 100 teens at each participating high school. Instruction will be delivered in classes consisting of 20 to 25 students.

Curriculum Delivery

Representatives from the Meadows Institute will provide in-person delivery of the curriculum at participating schools.

Incentives

Students who participate in the program will receive incentives.

FREE Teen Driver Training 

The Youth Driver Education Program is offering FREE, in-person training sessions for teens ages 15–18. These interactive, two-hour sessions are designed to help teens build safer driving habits, recognize risky behaviors, and learn how to speak up in unsafe driving situations.

Teen Driving Bystander Training Registration Form

Thank you for your interest in registering your child for one of the Teen Driving Bystander Training sessions. These free, in-person sessions are designed for students ages 15–18.

Training is provided by the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute on behalf of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Sessions include a classroom presentation and interactive activities focused on recognizing risky driving behaviors and safely intervening as a peer.

Parental/legal guardian consent is required for participation prior to registration.
