PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Moore County Comprehensive Transportation Plan is a long-range, multimodal vision covering all aspects of the county's transportation needs through the year 2040. Development of the plan was a united effort between the County, the Triangle J Area Planning Organization, participating areas of Aberdeen, Cameron, Carthage, Foxfire Village, Pine Bluff, Robins, Southern Pines, Taylortown, Vass, Village of Pinehurst, Whispering Pines, and NCDOT's Transportation Planning Division.
Created cooperatively between the N.C. Department of Transportation, Moore County, and local and regional planning agencies, the plan enphasizes the local land development plan as well as statewide goals. The plan emphasizes public safety and mobility and local priorities such as economic development, improving existing corridors and preserving natural areas.
What is a CTP?
A Comprehensive Transportation Plan
- is a long-range, multimodal transportation plan
(highway, public transportation/rail, bicycle and pedestrian projects)
- is developed and adopted cooperatively by NCDOT, the Triangle Area RPO (TARPO), Moore County, and municipal stakeholders
- emphasizes the local land development plans that seeks to achieve both local community and statewide goals
- is a Concept Plan only
Design details can only be determined htrough the federal/state environmental analysis process, which does not occur until after a project receives funding
- Does not determine project funding.
Any project identified in the plan must be submitted for scoring in NCDOT's biannual Strategic Transportation Investments (STI) prioritization process to be eligible for funding. This is a separate process.
