You're Invited to Historic Bookmarks Book Club at Wing Haven
The Mecklenburg County Historic Landmarks Department & Wing Haven will cohost a book discussion on Becoming Elizabeth Lawrence: Discovered Letters of a Southern Gardener edited by Emily Herring Wilson.
Join us at Wing Haven in the Elizabeth “Pepper” Dowd Education Building to discuss the book, Becoming Elizabeth Lawrence. The program will include a group discussion — led by Wing Haven Director of Education and Community Engagement Andrea Funk — on the relationships and experiences that helped form Elizabeth Lawrence into an esteemed literary garden writer. One of Wing Haven’s three gardens is the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, a locally designated historic landmark and a Preservation Partner of the Garden Conservancy.
After the discussion, the participants are welcome to take a twilight walk through Elizabeth Lawrence's garden.
While reading the book is strongly encouraged, it is not necessary for attendance. All those interested in Mecklenburg County history are invited to attend!
Parking: Wing Haven’s parking lot is conveniently located between both gardens at the Foundation Office, 260 Ridgewood Avenue, with accessible parking available in front.
In consideration of our neighbors, we encourage visitors to park in the parking lot. If spots are not available, please park on the side of the street closest to Wing Haven.
Due to limited seating, registration is required.
