Envision Jefferson 2040 is an update to Envision Jefferson 2020, the parish’s comprehensive plan.
A comprehensive plan is a document that guides policy decisions regarding physical growth and development. The plan designates the general distribution, location, and extent of land uses and provides the framework for defining Jefferson Parish’s future. It includes goals, objectives, and policies that provide a framework to guide day-to-day land use decisions. Each goal (a concise statement describing a desired outcome) is supported by objectives (achievable steps toward the goal) and policies (specific statements to guide decision making).
Envision Jefferson 2040 will continue to promote a high quality of life for Jefferson Parish residents. The process is identifying obstacles, policy gaps, and needed policy clarifications, as well as new opportunities to achieve parish goals. Given that Hurricane Katrina shifted the region’s planning perspective, resilience is a key goal of Envision Jefferson 2040.
The update to the plan will conclude in late 2019.
