What We've Heard
Over a series of meetings, research activities, and surveying, we have heard the following challenges and community priorities. Take a look and tell us if this is a summary you can get behind.
- Residents appreciate Congress Heights because of its family-friendly community events, amenities such as the Congress Heights Plaza, and its rich, southern soulfulness, due to the number of reesidents who migrate from the South
- Significant landmarks include THEARC, the Congress Heights Plaza, Ballou High School, the Pavillion, Oxon Run Parkway, and the Horse Barn at St. Elizibeths.
- There are decades of recent community history of which there is little formal record
- There is a desire for more accessible historic and cultural sites
- Community artists need more support and access to opportunity
- Public art is a priority for the community
- Educational wayfinding, signage, plaques, and community walks would help highlight local history
The Congress Heights Small Area Plan is led by the Office of Planning (OP). The plan is managed by:
- Valecia Wilson, Ward 7 and 8 Planner, Project Manager
- Faith Broderick, Community Planner, Assistant Project Manager
