Cary received a citizen-initiated application for traffic calming along Kingston Ridge Road.  This street serves as the primary corridor connecting the Hillsdale Forest community to Walnut Street so staff have developed a concept that will reinforce the residential context of this community while still supporting the vehicle traffic and emergency access commensurate with a Collector Street.

Cary has responded to traffic safety concerns from community members by evaluating Kingston Ridge Road for traffic calming.  This evaluation, presented and discussed in the Traffic Data Summary posted to the Documents section below, resulted in an initial recommendation by staff for traffic calming.

Staff have developed this into a Concept Design to exhibit Cary's suggestions for traffic calming (speed humpsalong this corridor and to facilitate discussions with affected citizens.  To-date, this design has been reviewed by Cary's Traffic Calming Safety Committee to ensure that impacts to access and emergency services are minimized and acceptable.

As the most critical aspect of a successful traffic calming project, community support will be required for this project to proceed.  Staff will be engaging impacted community members and intend to use this platform to aid in determining consensus within the neighborhood.

A survey have been developed to help staff better understand the neighborhood's support and tailor this project to the community needs.  The survey can be accessed on the following page by selecting Continue below.  Citizens are encouraged to provide any additional feedback by emailing the Cary Project Manager directly using the link below.

Survey results and project updates will be posted here as they become available.

Cary staff are happy to meet directly with community representatives as we move through this process.
