The City of Asheville is invested in ending homelessness. Homelessness is a complex issue, and solving it will take the efforts and partnerships of many different community members as well as City staff. The plan to end homelessness consists of three main components:
1. Coordinated Housing Placement Program: this will help place people experiencing homelessness into stable housing.
2. Emergency Shelter: The City plans to acquire and convert an existing hotel to serve as emergency shelter. It will also contract with a partner to operate the emergency shelter in safe and effective manner.
3. Permanent Supportive Housing: This helps provide supportive services for people exiting homelessness as they move into housing and work to improve their lives.
