3 Mile Road Resurfacing
In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. The 3 Mile Road project is funded by Vital Streets. Construction is expected to happen in 2026 or 2027.
3 Mile Road (Monroe to Plainfield)

This is a resurfacing project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade what is listed below:
- Replace the existing road surface with new layers of asphalt.
- Install a roundabout at the 3 Mile and Coit intersection.
- Remove the bicycle lanes from the street to narrow the street.
- Install a new shared use pathway on the north side of the street. This work will require removal of trees and landscaping. The pathway will be installed on City property.
- Upgrade existing sidewalks and curb ramps to meet the American with Disabilities Act standards.
- Replace most driveway approaches.
- Plant new street trees.
- Install tree wells to help capture stormwater.
