Vision Zero: Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot Project Engagement
Vision Zero: Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot Project Engagement
In summer 2025, Arlington County launched the Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot Project to address potentially high-risk conflict points when a driver makes a right turn across a downhill-sloped bike lane. We are sharing this form to collect your feedback as we assess the impacts of and next steps for this pilot.
Welcome!
There are three parts to this public engagement opportunity for the Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot Project:
- Project Background
- Pilot Project Questions
- On this page, we have questions for you about how you use this pilot and your experiences while traveling here.
- Optional Demographic Information
This engagement opportunity is open through September 26. We want to learn from you, our community members, about the impacts of Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot at the pilot locations. Additional locations may be considered based on public feedback in combination with data collected at the pilot sites. Thank you for helping improve our projects to better meet your needs!
Project Description
The Downhill Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflict Pilot tests the use of low-profile tactical speed humps and/or flex posts at four locations to slow drivers down before turning across the bike lane and increase awareness of oncoming bicyclists, who have high momentum due to the downhill slope.
