In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. The Buchanan Avenue project from Stewart to Corrine is funded by Vital Streets.
About the project
Buchanan Avenue (Stewart to Corinne)
Construction is expected to start in 2027.
This is a reconstruction project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade what is listed below:
- Watermain replacement and lead water service line replacements
- Driveway approaches and sidewalks
- Complete the bicycle connection on Buchanan from Stewart to Corinne
- Parking changes
- Pedestrian crossings at key locations to improve safety
- Street trees
