Butterworth Reconstruction
In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. The Butterworth project is funded by Vital Streets. Construction will begin in June and is expected to be complete at the end of October 2026.
About the project
Butterworth (west City limits to O'Brien)
Construction is expected to start June 15 depending on the weather.
This is a reconstruction project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade the storm sewer system.
The detour uses Wilson, Lake Michigan, Covell, and O'Brien.
Access to the City's yard waste site and Kent County Parks Administrative Building is maintained using O'Brien, Maynard, and Butterworth, see blue line below.
