Burton Street Reconstruction
In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. This focus is fueled by our community values: Safety, Healthy Places, Vibrant Economy, Environmental Sustainability, and Diverse Transportation Options. The Burton Street project is funded by Vital Streets. Construction will begin in March and is expected to be complete in November 2026.
Burton Street (Division to Kalamazoo)
Construction is expected to start in early April 2026.
This is a reconstruction project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade what is listed below:
Driveway approaches and sidewalks
Water
Parkways and street trees
Storm sewer

Project Limits and Detour
The Burton detour will use Division, Alger, and Kalamazoo.
The Madison and Eastern detours will use Hall, Division, and Alger.
