Homeowners and developers work with the Development Services Department (DSD) on a regular basis to obtain permits for work on new and existing properties. Part of this collaboration can include an Environmental Inspection so we provide educational sessions so you can understand what goes into this process and what to expect.

DSD holds free lunch & learn sessions led by our Environmental Compliance Supervisor, Amanda Wyrick. These sessions are held at the Permitting and Development Center (PDC) from 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. and cover the following topics:

  • Residential Environmental Inspections: Covers erosion controls, tree protection requirements, and the compliance process for single family and duplex dwellings, as well as for accessory dwelling units.
  • Lakeside Environmental Inspections: Covers regulations for constructing boat docks, stationary platforms, shoreline access, and more along Lake Austin, Lady Bird Lake and Lake Walter E. Long.

Each session is interactive with plenty of time for personalized questions so please consider attending on one of the remaining 2024 dates:

  • *Canceled* Wednesday, July 10 – Residential Environmental Inspections
  • Thursday, Sept. 5 – Lakeside Environmental Inspections
  • Thursday, Oct. 3 – Residential Environmental Inspections
  • Tuesday, Dec. 3 – Lakeside Environmental Inspections

A registration page for each event will go live approximately three weeks before each session. Space is limited so we encourage signing up to receive email invitations for these sessions by subscribing to our Lunch & Learn email list. We also post all sessions on our website calendar.
