City of Mountain Park 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update
It is time for the City of Mountain Park to update its Comprehensive Plan to determine where the community is, where it wants to be, and how to get there. Through this process, we will look at the need for updates to:
- Existing conditions
- Community vision
- Needs and Opportunities
- Goals and objectives
- Priority areas
- Action items/work program
As with our last two plan updates, we are being assisted in this process, free of charge, by staff from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC).
ARC uses funding from the State of Georgia to provide this service. For information on ARC, see https://atlantaregional.org.
For those new to comprehensive planning, here are some frequently asked questions:
"Frequently Asked Questions"
One of the fundamental responsibilities of local government is planning – how a community shapes and guides growth, development, change, and improvement. In Georgia, local governments are required to update their comprehensive plans every five years using data collection, community engagement, and analysis of feedback.
Updating the comprehensive plan offers communities the opportunity to look beyond the execution of day-to-day services and consider where they want to be in the next five years - as well as what has to be done to get there.
Everyone who lives, works, and plays in the community!
On the right side of this homepage is a project timeline. Events and engagement opportunities will be listed and updated frequently.
There is also an online survey located at the third tab above (between "Steering Committee" and "Relevant Documents").
The Steering Committee acts as a collaborative working group, providing guidance and input throughout the planning process. Committee members also act as plan ambassadors to their neighbors, colleagues, and other members of the community. Mountain Park's Steering Committee comprises a range of local residents, elected officials, and local government staff members. For more information, see the second tab above (between "Home" and "Survey").
