Chatham County's Electric Vehicle Planning Efforts
Chatham County's Electric Vehicle Planning project will analyze and identify areas throughout the County most in need of EV charging infrastructure, to include high-density workforce nodes, hurricane evacuation routes, medical facilities, and low-income communities.
The expansion of EV infrastructure will allow for the growth of a critical infrastructure system in a populous area where it is currently lacking. The development and implementation of EV infrastructure and the training needed to handle these systems will play a crucial role in advancing Chatham County and the State's economic and community development initiatives.
Chatham County is driving toward a more resilient future.
As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to rise, the county wants to be ready to meet the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors while still prioritizing resilience and sustainability. Chatham County was awarded a grant from the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission to plan for the expansion of EV infrastructure while also working with a local college to expand workforce training on these EV systems.
