The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is the County’s plan for building, upgrading, and replacing facilities and infrastructure. It captures Arlington’s planned investments in major infrastructure over a 10-year period and is updated every two years. Every CIP is designed with flexibility in mind --while the first two years' funding are generally firm, the remaining eight years allow flexibility to react to changing conditions and priorities.

Examples of CIP investments include stormwater improvements, park upgrades, and road and sidewalk improvements. The CIP also funds facilities and infrastructure that support critical services, such as transit, fire, and police services. Check out the interactive map of capital projects from the last CIP.

We need to hear from you about your priorities for capital investments. The input you provide today will help inform the County Manager’s proposed CIP, which he will present to the County Board in May.

Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts about what capital investments are most important to you. There are four program areas to weigh in on: Streets and Roads, Parks, Technology, and Infrastructure.

Weigh in now through April 12.
