The department is amending several regulations in WAC sections that affect harvesting clams, mussels, and oysters for personal use
The proposed amendments adjust the areas and seasons in accordance with recent clam and oyster survey data, recreational harvest projections, co-management agreements, and public health considerations.
The proposed amendments update beach status according to shellfish pest status by updating Oyster Drill and European Green Crab Restricted Shellfish Area designations. These designations are necessary to prevent the spread of pest infestations harmful to shellfish.
