In January 2022, CATS' policy board, the Metropolitan Transit Commission (MTC), approved a refined Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), including implementation of an initial 15-mile segment from Center City southeast to the Town of Matthews. The following questions are about potential alignment and station changes in the initial segment, including near the Bojangles Coliseum.
The map below displays a recommended shift in alignment over Briar Creek Road and paralleling the east side of the Briar Creek Road / Television Place bridge across Independence Boulevard. The alignment would continue through the Bojangles Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium property, with a station slightly closer to those buildings.
CATS is evaluating alternatives in and around Center City Charlotte. To better help the team make decisions, please tell us how you would use the planned LYNX Silver Line in Center City Charlotte.
The map below displays the Center City alignments CATS is evaluating and comparing. The purple line represents the LPA/11th Street Alternative, the pink line represents the Shared Blue Line Alternative, and the green line represents the Shared Gold Line Alternative. Potential future alignments are identified by dashed lines.
Please note the following are optional. Collecting this data helps CATS evaluate and refine strategies to better engage the community in the planning process.
