Work is underway to bring public water access to more than 400 homes in western Boone County. Rural Water 3.0 is the latest effort from the Boone County Fiscal Court to offer safe, reliable public water to residents without access to waterlines. To date, Boone County has installed - or is in the process of installing - waterlines that will bring public water to more than 640 homes.

Here are a few key dates and details to keep in mind:

  • April 23: Boone County Fiscal Court reviews and approves recommended streets list.
  • Week of May 3: County Engineer sends letters notifying residents and outlines requirements.
  • Last Week of May: Residents can attend one of two public meetings, tentatively scheduled for the last week of May.
  • July 12: Deadline for eligible streets to meet 50% resident commitment to be eligible for water.
  • July 26: Finally tally of streets identified for Rural Water 3.0
  • Fall 2024: Project planning and design will begin.
  • Summer 2025: Construction is expected to start.
