Welcome to the October 22, 2024 Asheville City Council Meeting

 

  • The Virtual Agenda Briefing for October 17 has been canceled.

On October 22, City Council will meet in-person at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Asheville City Hall - 70 Court Plaza Asheville, N.C.

Persons wishing to speak live at the 5 p.m. meeting will be required to attend in person, and are required to sign up at the door

 

Parking Available

Free parking will be available in the two city employee parking lots along Marjorie Street after 4:30 p.m. the day of the meeting (55 Valley Street and 17 Marjorie Street).

 

Face Coverings in Public Spaces

Face coverings are no longer required in public indoor spaces. For City of Asheville buildings, we will no longer require face coverings. However, public health officials still strongly recommend wearing them especially in crowded indoor spaces.

To be clear, the public will no longer be required to wear face coverings in City of Asheville buildings but will be encouraged to wear them.

 

Interpretation Available Upon Request

If you want to participate in person at the City Council meeting on October 22 and need interpretive services at that meeting, please use this form to request services by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024.

 

Presentations at the Meeting

For those wishing to make a slide or PowerPoint presentation at a formal meeting of City Council, the presentation must be submitted to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by 12 p.m. the day before the meeting.

 

Public Comment at the Meeting

Individuals have up to three minutes to speak to City Council. 

A person representing a group of three or more persons (speaker plus three others - total of four) present in the Council Chamber has up to 10 minutes to address City Council.

Public comment period for any item may not exceed one hour.

 

How to Participate Remotely

To accommodate those who do not yet feel secure attending in person, or those whose are precluded from attending because of schedules or other personal factors, City Council will continue to engage with those members of our community using the following options for participation:

  1. Remote comments via email (ashevillecitycounciloct222024@publicinput.com) or voicemail (855-925-2801, meeting code 7354) will continue to be accepted and reviewed by City Council prior to the meeting so long as they are received by 9:00 a.m. on October 22.  
  2. The live meeting will be streamed on the City's YouTube Channel which can be accessed through the YouTube icon on the front page of the City's website or via the livestream at the bottom of this page.
  3. The live meeting will be available on Charter/Spectrum channel 193.
  4. You may listen to the meeting through via phone (855-925-2801, meeting code 7354).
  5. Finally, the public can communicate with the Council by emailing them directly at any time - ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov
