Project description
The Township of Essa has developed a Transportation and Trails Master Plan (TTMP) that will help the Township plan a multimodal transportation network to accommodate forecast growth in population and employment.
The goal of the TTMP is to provide a roadmap for the planning, future design, and implementation of transportation and trail infrastructure throughout the Township. The Master Plan focuses on developing a transportation system that is well-connected, accessible, and safe for all users, while also supporting future travel demands that come with growth.
Over the course of the Study, the Township has engaged with residents, key stakeholders and decision-makers to shape the vision, goals, and objectives to guide the direction of the TTMP, and ultimately its proposed solutions and recommendations.
The Township of Essa has endorsed the recommendations contained in the TTMP at the Council meeting on October 16th, 2024.

Open House #2
The Township of Essa is experiencing new growth and development. To strategically prepare for this growth, the Township is presenting preliminary recommendations for the Transportation and Trails Master Plan (TTMP) which will inform and guide infrastructure investments, policies, and strategies for the transportation network over the next 20 years and beyond.
The In-Person Public Open House will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. The Public Open House will take place at the Arena in the Thornton Community Centre (246 Barrie St, Thornton). This will be a “Drop-In” style session, with no formal presentations. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions of the project team and provide feedback at their own pace.
