Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services and the Fairfax County Athletic Council are seeking community feedback on updates to the county’s gym and field use policies.

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) Athletic Services establishes the policies and procedures that govern allocation and use of Fairfax County athletic fields and gyms, with the goal of fair and equitable distribution among all users.
NCS and the Fairfax County Athletic Council are seeking community feedback on updates to the county’s gym and field use policies.
The policies outline who is eligible to receive permitted use of Fairfax County public athletic fields and gyms and the process used to allocate and schedule fields, athletic leagues/organizations, individuals, groups and corporate applicants.
The feedback period will be open July 6–20, 2026. The community is invited to review the policy documents and offer edits and suggestions.

Athletic Services is responsible for ensuring the efficient and equitable use of 852 athletic fields (including 92 synthetic turf fields) and 250 gymnasiums at Fairfax County parks and public schools.
