Stream bank erosion has occurred along portions of Mallard Creek between Mallard Creek Road and David Taylor Road in Charlotte This erosion is due to historic straightening and deepening of the stream as early as the 1900’s. The erosion has caused trees to fall into the channel, debris jams to form, and sediment deposition to adversely affect aquatic habitat. The primary goals of the project include stabilization of stream banks, protection and enhancement of existing buffers, and water quality improvements. This project will include approximately 8,395 feet of Mallard Creek and include about 800 feet of Doby Creek, upstream of Mallard Creek.  

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is working in collaboration with Charlotte Water, Cross Charlotte Trail, and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation on this project to limit closures in this area while completing multiple simultaneous projects.
