PROJECT INFO

The Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is helping develop affordable housing on two sites in East Austin fronting Tillery Street and Gardner Road. AHFC is conducting online community meetings to provide information on these developments to interested and impacted residents and explore community ideas regarding development of the sites.

Who is AHFC?

The Austin Housing Finance Corporation is a quasi-public non-profit entity created by the Austin City Council in 1979 whose mission is to generate and implement strategic housing solutions for the benefit of low-and moderate-income residents of the City.

Development Objectives

AHFC’s goal is to partner with a developer identified through a request for proposal process to develop the property for affordable housing. The proposal that AHFC selects must at a minimum meet AHFC’s development objectives including:

  •    Maximize the number of affordable units
  •    Maximize the number of deeply affordable units
  •    Maximize the number of multi-bedroom units for families and continuum of care for persons experiencing homelessness
  •    Minimize City of Austin subsidy per unit
