Coordinated Public Transit Human Services Transportation Plan, Genesee Finger Lakes Region Socioeconomic Data
The Genesee Transportation Council (GTC) is updating its federally required Coordinated Public Transit–Human Services Transportation Plan for the Genesee–Finger Lakes Region. This plan identifies and addresses the transportation needs of individuals who face mobility challenges, including older adults, people with disabilities, and those with limited incomes.
Updated every five years, the plan is essential for securing Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 funding. These funds primarily support the purchase of paratransit vehicles for non-profit agencies, but may also be used for other initiatives that improve mobility options for people with special transportation needs. GTC adopted the most recent update in 2021.
The plan includes a report of socioeconomic conditions based on U.S. Census data affecting people who are elderly, low-income or who have a disability. Linked to the tabs shown below are maps and graphs reflecting where most of these population groups reside as well as related socioeconomic trends within the region. This information will be included in the final plan, which will be adopted by the GTC Board in 2026.
