Welcome - we're glad you're here!

Welcome to the Town's online engagement hub for Peak Plan 2055, an initiative that will result in an updated comprehensive plan for the Town, along with a transportation plan and a study of the NC-55 corridor. Throughout the planning process, this website will be your one-stop-shop for project information, the schedule of events, engagement opportunities, interim reports, and draft plan documents.

Since the adoption of the current comprehensive plan, Advance Apex 2045, the Town has continued to grow. Our population around the time of plan adoption in 2019 was 55,000. Today, our population is over 80,000. Substantial development has occurred, and more is on the horizon. Looking 30 years into the future, Peak Plan 2055 will serve as a guide for effectively managing change. With an emphasis on future land use and transportation needs, Peak Plan 2055 will help Town leaders, Town staff, and others make decisions about the future of Apex in a coordinated, thoughtful manner.

The Planning Process

The planning process is expected to conclude at the end of 2026, but we cannot get there without your help. Join us for all stages of the planning process! Check out the "Get Involved" tab for news about upcoming events. Visit the "Documents & Materials" tab for plan information as it is developed. Subscribe (at the right) to receive email notifications about opportunities for involvement and new postings throughout the planning process.

The Planning Area

The Peak Plan 2055 Planning Area (displayed on the map below) encompasses the land within the Town’s corporate limits; the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ), which is comprised of the unincorporated areas of Wake County where the Town has planning and zoning authority; and the Town’s future planning area. During the planning process, we will contemplate potential changes in land use and supporting infrastructure throughout the Peak Plan 2055 Planning Area to arrive at a vision for the future that aligns with the community’s expectations and aspirations.
