Hampton Falls Housing Survey
Hampton Falls Housing Survey
FUTURE OF HOUSING IN HAMPTON FALLS
Housing is a hot topic everywhere and Hampton Falls is no exception. The question is how can Hampton Falls integrate housing options into the existing fabric of the community. The first step is to engage the town in a conversation about housing to identify the priorities and strategies that best meet the community’s needs.
This survey takes about 15 minutes, but you are encouraged to leave additional comments. All survey results will be published, though inappropriate comments may be redacted. If you would like to receive additional notices about future planning efforts in Hampton Falls, including survey results, please include your contact information at the end of the survey. (Please note that contact information will not be published.)
Project Background:
In January 2025, the Hampton Falls Planning Board was awarded a $34,000 grant from InvestNH Municipal Planning & Zoning Grant Program’s Housing Opportunity Program Needs Assessment Grant (HOP Grant) to prepare a Needs Analysis and Plan to fund the public engagement, analysis, and documentation of answering the question “what should the future of housing be in Hampton Falls?” The primary tasks in this project include:
- Conduct a survey to provide information on housing and seek feedback from residents, businesses, and officials on housing preference to help guide potential action. The survey will open in May 2025, with findings reported in July 2025.
- Develop a housing needs assessment that evaluates the housing status, demographics, and housing- related issues within Hampton Falls. This assessment will include guidance about tools and potential changes to local regulations, their impact on housing opportunities, and their relation to Hampton Falls residents’ priorities and community goals. The assessment will be presented to the Planning Board in early fall 2025.
- Hold public input events to present the background information, discuss housing preferences in Hampton Falls gained from the survey and other sources, and allow for facilitated discussion related to housing that may fit Hampton Falls’ needs and desires. These events will be held in fall 2025.
- Audit Hampton Falls’s existing land use regulations to identify opportunities to make modification to regulations that better match the housing needs and goals found during this project and those goals identified in Hampton Falls’ Master Plan. The Audit results will be presented to the Planning Board at a public information session in early 2026.
The Hampton Falls Planning Board is working with Rockingham Planning Commission to assist with this effort over the coming months. No portion of this project obligates Hampton Falls to enact any regulations, nor does it change the legal process for adopting local regulations related to housing.
