PROJECT OVERVIEW

The I-275 SmartLane (HAM/CLE IR 275 30.98/0.00; PID 115417) project corridor is located along the interstate loop, northeast of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Eastbound project limits extend 11 miles from US-42 to SR-28 and westbound limits extend 6 miles from SR-28 to Loveland Madeira Road.

The corridor was originally identified in the 2016 ODOT Statewide Active Traffic Demand Management (ATDM) Strategies study as a Hard Shoulder Running (HSR) -- more commonly known as a SmartLane -- candidate to improve safety, travel time, preserve capacity, and reliability.  Phase 1 of the I-275 SmartLane (PID 94256) is scheduled to open in late 2023.  Phase 2 is under design, including the necessary options to accommodate the SmartLane on the I-275 bridges over Loveland Madeira Road/Railroad Tracks and the Little Miami River.  Additionally, the project will add an eastbound auxiliary lane from US-22 to Loveland Madeira Road and is investigating potential interchange improvements on I-275 eastbound from Reed Hartman Highway to I-71.
