North NC115 Road Widening Project HL-0056
North NC115 Road Widening Project HL-0056
Let’s Talk About the Widening of NC115
If you’ve ever driven along NC115 (Old Statesville Road) between McCord Road and NC73 (Sam Furr Road), you know it’s a narrow two-lane road with no shoulders. Also, it’s a busy connector for folks traveling between I-485 and NC73. For many in Huntersville, NC115 is the go-to alternative to I-77, helping people move north and south through town. A project is in the works to make this stretch safer and easier to travel. The plan is to widen NC115 to a four-lane, median-divided roadway. Plus, the Town is planning on adding 10-foot multi-use paths on both sides, which would be perfect for walking, biking and other ways to get around. This upgrade means more room for cars and a safer space for everyone. The Town is designing and constructing this state transportation improvement project (STIP), which is a locally administered project (LAP). It is about making travel better for everyone—drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.
