Project Overview
This project will activate the 4.5-acre Rozzelles Ferry Nature Preserve and ~100-acre Haymarket Nature Preserve on Mountain Island Lake in northwest Charlotte. The project scope will include development of shoreline stabilization, kayak launch, trails, parking and signage. Visit the "Rozzelles Ferry" and "Haymarket" tabs to view proposed design concepts. The design survey closed on October 19, 2025 and the design team will be sharing the proposed final concept in early 2026.

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation invites you to help us Master Plan and activate your new 4.5-acre Rozzelles Ferry Nature Preserve and 100-acre Haymarket Nature Preserve located in West Charlotte. Join us on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, anytime between 5-7 p.m. at Mountain Island Library (4420 Hoyt Galvin Way, Charlotte NC 28214) to learn more about this project and to provide your feedback.
