Queen Street Bridge Replacement
Queen Street Bridge Replacement
The City is considering two options for the replacement of the Queen Street railroad bridge, a vital connection from the Southernside and West Greenville neighborhoods to the larger community. Staff believes construction time and costs will be similar for each option. Both include an increase in the vertical height of the bridge, to meet current railroad regulations and standards.
The City is seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders before making a decision.

BRIDGE DESIGN OPTION 1
This design options skews the bridge from its current alignment, but allows space for Cain Street to remain open in both directions.
A cul du sac would be created at Gates Street.
BRIDGE DESIGN OPTION 2
This option creates a new bridge alongside of the existing structure. However, due to the terrain and existing elevation, Cain Street would need to be permanently converted to a cul de sac (noted in yellow, below) at each end, and Queen Street would be extended to intersect with Willard Street. A cul du sac also would be created at Gates Street.
