S. State Street Cycle Track Survey
S. State Street Cycle Track Survey
Bike projects are identified in the Bike Raleigh Plan and prioritized based on several criteria, including equity, connectivity, and feasibility. Adopted in May 2016, the BikeRaleigh Plan is the framework for expanding Raleigh's bikeway network and improving safety, comfort, convenience, and accessibility for bicyclists of all ages and abilities. Streets identified for a bike lane project have been approved by City Council as part of their adoption of the City of Raleigh Bicycle Plan (2016).
The Preliminary Design and Engagement Meeting is the second step in a four-step process to receive bikeway improvements through the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program. S. State Street has been identified for a separated bikeway by the City of Raleigh's 10-year Priority Project list in the 2016 BikeRaleigh Plan.
Due to existing street characteristics, a two-way cycle track is being proposed on the east side of S. State Street between Bragg Street and Bunche Drive. This bikeway will connect into several proposed neighborhood bikeways on Bragg Street, Peterson Street, and Dandridge Drive. The S. State Street cycle track proposal is also a key connection between the Biltmore Hills neighborhood, Walnut Creek Wetland Park and Trail, Fuller Elementary, and Carnage Middle School.
The proposed design would maintain all existing on-street parking on the west side of S. State Street between Bragg Street and Peterson Street.
We are seeking feedback on the design proposed below on S. State Street between Bragg Street - Peterson Street, and Peterson Street - Bunche Drive. Please review the design concepts below and complete the survey on this page.
Survey will close on Friday, May 31.
