Chavis, Top Greene, & SPHW: Joint Community Advisory Group
Chavis, Top Greene, & SPHW: Joint Community Advisory Group
As part of the 2022 Parks Bond, there are three projects occuring in close proximity in South Raleigh: development of a new aquatic center and improvements to the Heritage Plaza at John Chavis Memorial Park, renovation and expansion of the John P. "Top" Greene Community Center, and implementation of the South Park Heritage Walk.
We are excited to work with the community to create plans and designs that reflects the unique needs and desires of local residents. To facilitate this process, Raleigh Parks is proposing the creation of a Joint Community Advisory Group (CAG), due to the proximity and shared interests of these three projects. This group will work in partnership with city staff and professional consultants to ensure that the designs and interpretive elements of each of these projects meet the specific needs and preferences of the community. We welcome your input and look forward to collaborating with you on this exciting endeavor!
The CAG Interest Questionnaire will close Thursday, September 28, 2023. Final appointment of the CAG will be by the Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board at their October 2023 meeting.
Purpose and Authority of the CAG
The purpose of the Joint CAG is to represent community interests and validate and report design recommendations to the Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board (PRGAB) for review. The proposed designs will be presented to City Council for approval, along with the Board's recommendation.
Note: CAG membership is a volunteer-based position.
