Project Info

Why a roundabout? Roundabouts have proven benefits in safety, operations, efficiency, and versatility.

  • Roundabouts provide efficient operations with improved safety compared to both stop controlled intersections and traffic signals.
  • Roundabouts have consistently been shown to reduce overall and severe crashes compared to two-way, all-way stop intersections and intersections with traffic signals.
  • Compared to a traffic signal, a roundabout efficiently serves traffic approaching from all four legs and reduces overall delay during peak traffic times.
  • Compared to the existing all-way stop intersection, a roundabout will make it easier for traffic to select and use a gap to enter the intersection, reducing delay for all approaches and improving safety by decreasing potential right-angle crashes.
  • The roundabout is designed for big vehicles like semis, school buses, and farm equipment so everyone can get through smoothly.
