I-11/Flamingo Retaining Wall & Soundwall Reconstruction
I-11/Flamingo Retaining Wall & Sound Wall Reconstruction Project
Project Overview
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is working on a project to repair and replace retaining walls and sound walls along a 1.1-mile stretch of I-11/US 93, US 95 (formerly I-515/US 93, US 95), between Flamingo Road and Desert Inn Road in Clark County, Nevada. These walls were originally built in 1985, and it's time to update them to ensure safety and reduce noise for nearby residents.
This project involves the rehabilitation and stabilization of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls, the construction of retaining walls, and the replacement of sound walls in both the northbound and southbound directions of the interstate. These upgrades will enhance the safety, functionality, and durability of the roadway while providing better noise mitigation for surrounding communities.
Project Goals:
- Structural Integrity: Ensure the safety and stability of the MSE retaining walls by repairing or replacing those that are structurally deficient.
- Noise Reduction: Improve the acoustic performance of the sound wall to reduce highway noise for residents.
- Right-of-Way Considerations: Minimize construction impacts on nearby properties.
- Landscape & Aesthetic Enhancements: improving the visual quality with new trees, paint, and patterned concrete walls.
- Minimal Disruption: NDOT's carefully planned traffic management strategies will be implemented to ensure minimal disruption to daily commutes.
- Enhanced Connectivity: By coordinating with local agencies, schools, and businesses, the project will maintain essential access to key community hubs during construction.
This project is an important step in enhancing safety and quality of life for those living near I-11. We’re committed to keeping you informed and minimizing disruptions as we move forward.
