Overview of Project

The existing U.S. 63 culvert, over an unnamed creek between 510th and 525th Avenues south of Montezuma, was originally built as a bridge in 1922 and converted to a culvert in 1938. The existing structure will be removed and a new 16’ x 9’ box culvert will be constructed in its place. The project also includes grading, new shouldes, new pavement.

In order to complete the project in a timely manner, U.S. 63 traffic will be closed to traffic and detoured around the project site. The detour route is tentatively proposed along County Road F57/Diamond Trail Road and Iowa 146.

Right-of-way is needed for the project from adjacent property owner(s). Construction will take place starting in the spring of 2027 and be completed by the fall of 2027.
